"The time adjustment screw for the time delay relay is mounted to bear the weighted spring and provides variation of the time-time interval by dampening the spring vibration. It should be adjusted for the briefest interval which will permit the heavy current to reach its maximum as indicated by the swing of the ammeter needle which should be between 1/5 and 1/2 second. Nothing is gained in magnetizing effect by prolonging this interval and much more harm is done in needlessly increasing the drain on the batteries, with possibilities of burning the part being magnetized."
