The Driven
In so far, 2 teraflops. The skeleton sniffer had been sorting all the core's backlogs. Other projects that Zackari had on the back burner were beginning to culminate. Hotly debated issues had mostly been settled amongst the Think Tank. Now a mild exhilaration simmered amongst the team as certain projects began to flow into a more "synergetic" direction.
Between Zak's skill as a true programing wizard and Fred's inability to stop daydreaming, the two have sparked off true inspirational magic from each other. Insofarasinmuch: The last two weeks had seen them develop a highly sophisticated approach to the "issue of core six". Fred had called the project B.F.B. or Big Fucking Bug. Zak had called the project file: "Maculata".
The team had voted for the former.
The proposal was to hack the core. Two thirds of the team didn't like that idea at all or thought it would never work. Some thought it reckless, or outright dangerous. But Leadership had weighed in. Instead of going through the front door, they were going to go around back. Or through the abdomen to be exact.
Enter: PROJECT DINOCAMPUS C.C.C.
Code Name: PROJECT B.F.B.
Based on the throw away suggestion of Fred, Zak had been secretly inspired and had put part of his team onto a new job. To develop the first Hyper Torsion programming algorithms and processors; although the team had already been knee deep in development of a new D-Wave A.I. system (Code Name: Checkered Rabbit). At this point, some ten weeks in, the Beta version of the Platonic Solid Rotational Fields needed testing in a real time environment. Patching to Core 6 was no more than plugging in the app but cracking the security programing language was seemingly impossible, more than a guess if anything. Analytics showed some likely approaches, none of which were held in any high regard by the "Knights" (those in service to Knight Tech). Yet Zak was persistent and there was a new game in town: Quasicrystals.
Dubbed the "Twin-Serpentiums" a virus had been developed by the Knights. Fred said it was more like a UFO. And for the most part, he was right. There were two hyperspatial coiled processors built upon the principals of Rodin Coil mathematics and Nikola Tesla's engineering technologies. The two coiled processors each having its own designation, one Yin, the other Yang. In between the two processors Zak had built a stabilization platform for sub routines called "The Island" in order for Ying to communicate to Yang they needed to go through The Island first. In order to go to the island Ying and Yang needed bridges. But Zak had specifically made sure to build retractable bridges. He called them Drawbridges. Coil Yin, The Island and Coil Yang operated in unison as a whole enclosed system like a brain, or bacteria, or like some occupants inside an alien disk.
The beauty of Fred's ideas and Zak's extraordinary skills had manifested into a whole new invention. Scalable Codes. Built on Vector mathematics and the Knight Tech. technology, they had not only built a whole self contained operating system that was autonomous but it was also invisible. It contained massive amounts of data, all quantumly encrypted, scaled on Zak's Fractaled Torsion Vector scripts, uploaded and stored not only to the cloud, but into the very fabric of nature itself. He was uploading and downloading from atoms themselves! All accessible by voice command. Future projects included mind linkage to the system.
Project B.F.B. consists of creating a parasitic wasp like virus which would insert itself akin to the genis Dinocampus Coccinellae, yet instead of killing the host/core, the BFB VIRUS, acts like callback skeleton sniffers, or MITM attacks. It copies all and replicates surrogates, all of which act as a clan, hive or brood. The BFB Virus (BFBV) builds a hierarchical hive of minds. These minds are all their own until activated. Once activated, they are known as "The Driven". Due to the nature of Quasi-Mechanics, these programs can be activated or deactivated at any point in the nodule grid (either real world or contained). It is in this logic that Fred had determined that instead of being a surrogate to Core 6 rules make the Core your surrogate. The rest would be the R&D Department and reverse engineering.
In the previous three Beta tests only 8D dimensional programing had been applied. The version currently running (Beta v4.011) had been updated to to D256 (8X32). And just like primitive screens of the 1990's, 256 colors wasn't very much and so Fred suspected that the potential discovery of more than D256 was exponentially high. In any case, it was all exciting. A literal Pandora's Box had been opened.
The work? It was like Zen to Fred. Keeping his mind off of more sullen things. Zak too, for all his ambition seemed to be wrapped into the work. Beta 1 & 2 used simple spheres as avatars but the addition of The Island's Rotational Physics in Beta 3 allowed for users to create their own avatars. As of (Beta v4.011), the most popular avatar used by Knights is "The Dark Raven" (submitted by McShiphtie_106 *claps*). Followed by "Knight Widows" and "Skeeter Hawx" (submitted by ShearFright & Gotterdunn). Honorable mention was given to Apache_9 for his "Skinwalker" rendition.
Several dozen other avatars, skins and textures have been added weekly. Graphics are in high demand and Zak was thinking he might have to outsource for a larger art department. Fred would like that too. Although they have the world as a sandbox in their hands, they didn't have enough apps to run it... yet.
